UltraMatrix® is a self-reinforced polypropylene composite developed for the Mous Optimal Carry-On. Polypropylene fibres are drawn for strength, woven into layered sheets and fused under heat and pressure — no glue, no resin, just molecular structure. The result is a shell that's significantly tougher and more resilient than standard polycarbonate, while being lighter. It flexes under impact instead of cracking, and tends to rebound rather than dent. For travellers, that means fewer breakages and more of your weight allowance going on your belongings, not the case.

Mous Luggage | Engineered to Go the Distance.
Most hardshell suitcases make you choose: light but fragile, or strong but heavy. Mous luggage is built to change that.
Our Carry-On suitcase is constructed from UltraMatrix® — a self-reinforced polypropylene composite inspired by aerospace engineering. Polypropylene fibres are stretched, woven into layered sheets and fused under heat and pressure to create a single woven structure that flexes under impact instead of cracking, and rebounds instead of denting. At just 2.8kg, it gives back up to a third of your carry-on allowance compared to mainstream cases — more room for what actually matters. Every hardware decision follows the same logic: Hinomoto wheels with Japanese bearings for a smooth, silent glide; a 46-part aluminium telescopic handle engineered for zero wobble; puncture-resistant YKK RCW zips; a TSA-approved combination lock; and a hidden AirTag compartment so you always know where your bag is.
For those who need serious capacity, the Wheeled Duffel delivers 105 litres of flexible, usable space in a soft-shell body built from 1680D ballistic nylon — the same material used across our backpack range. Dual-supported wheels are 75% less likely to fail than typical single-support spinner designs, validated across 100km of loaded rolling tests. A bespoke telescopic handle was pulled 1,000 times at 28kg to confirm it stays solid long after the new-luggage phase has passed. An ABS honeycomb internal frame keeps the bag standing upright and holding its shape at full capacity, without adding unnecessary weight.
Both pieces come with a 25-year limited lifetime warranty and have been tested to withstand the harshest real-world travel conditions — from extreme temperature exposure to repeated drop and tumble testing. This is luggage built the same way we build everything else: from first principles, with nothing left to chance.
