Main materials

Main body and sides made from UltraTex^®: an ultra-durable performance fabric engineered for serious strength without the bulk.
• It starts with a base of high-tenacity nylon – a yarn with tightly packed polymer chains for impressive abrasion resistance.
• Woven into this is a grid of UHMWPE fibres – ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene that’s 15× stronger than steel by weight – forming a ripstop to stop tears from spreading.
•The fabric is finished with a dual-layer PU coating to add water resistance and enhance overall tear strength..
The result? A material that’s lightweight, weather-ready and up to three times more tear-resistant than standard nylon.

What is UltraTex^® and how is it different from other materials?
UltraTex^® combines high-strength nylon with ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibres to create a reinforced ripstop that’s up to three times more tear-resistant than standard nylon — yet remarkably lightweight. Finished with a dual-layer polyurethane coating, it offers excellent water resistance and long-lasting durability.
While some of our backpacks use heavier materials for maximum rugged protection, UltraTex^® delivers exceptional strength in a lighter package. It’s engineered for those who want a durable, reliable backpack that stays light and agile, perfect for everyday use and travel.

How does this backpack differ from the Mous x Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Backpack?
This backpack offers the same high-performance design, durable materials and optimised organisation as the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team variant it just does not feature Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team branding like the ultra teal trims and logo.

How well does this backpack protect my tech?
The Optimal Backpack is built for serious protection. Its AiroFoam^® impact-absorbing technology shields laptops and tablets from drops og up to 1.2 meters. It's also highly water-resistant, keeping your gear safe from rain, spills and splashes – though we wouldn’t recommend submerging it in water. Whether you're caught in a storm or on the move, your tech stays protected.

What’s the difference between this backpack and your Extreme Commuter range?
The Optimal Backpack retains the best elements of our Extreme Commuter range while reducing weight and maximising storage. Both offer tech protection, durability and weather resistance, but they differ in design, materials and organisational capacity.

Is the Mous sternum strap compatible with this backpack?
Technically yes, but it’s not the ideal fit. The placement of the nylon webbing on the straps limits how much you can adjust the sternum strap, so we don’t recommend it as the best solution for this backpack.
